When did you join the Quilting Bee?
Uhm, I was approved on January 27th 2008. I had tried to join a couple of weeks earlier, but was rejected because my website hadn't got that much content. After that rejection I worked really hard to improve some things (add more info etc.) and because of this I was accepted later on (so if you want to be a bee and you're rejected... don't fear! Just work on your site for a couple of weeks and ask one of the staff-members to take a look at it... I'm sure you'll be approved the second time)
What made you want to join the Quilting Bee?
I visited the Qbee a couple of years ago. I thought it was such a great clique and the layouts were so lovely. However, I didn't have a website at that time so I couldn't join. In January 2008 I found the Qbee website again and this time I had a website. I also noticed all the cute little patches and all those cute little bees which made me want to join even more. Last but least, I have always wanted to belong to something... I guess that says enough.
How did you get started pixeling?
Actually, I haven't got the feeling I have even started with this. At least, not when I compare my patches to those of other members. My first pixel-project was my first Qbee patch *laughs*. Right now, I'm trying to get better at it... joining activities sure helps ^^
What inspired you to create your first website?
Uhm, this was in 2002. I guess this was the first year we had internet at home and at school my friends and I were busy creating little websites... we used Homestead at that time *grins*. My very first website was about Gabrielle of Xena: Warrior Princess... just because I loved that show and there wasn't a Dutch Gabrielle website at that time.
What are some of your future goals?
I have lots of goals , but I'm still not completely sure which I actually want happen. Website related, I am busy trying to validate all my websites at the moment... I never really cared what my coding would be like, as long as everything would look a bit okay on IE and Firefox. Since I joined the Qbee I want things to be perfect... and that means proper coding and a nice layout. So basically I'm slowly improving everything. About my offline life, I guess I want to learn to enjoy things even more. Past few years have been rather tough on me (talking about my health here), so right now I guess I finally cherish the normal things, like being able to go to college or work or to spend time with friends or anything related to that.
School or Work?
schoolwork
Hobbies?
Uhm, I really enjoy spending time reading books and swimming. I am teaching kids from six till twelve years old how to swim properly and as fast as possible, which can be hard at times (kids these days :P) but it also can be lots of fun and I'm learning so much (how to explain things, how to be clear and kind at the same time etc.). I also love to dance and to hang out with friends, spending time online and creating new websites.
In your own words...
I try to live by this quote 'Life is only what you make of it' (Gabrielle on Xena: Warrior Princess). I love it, because if you don't work for it, then it won't happen. I guess it's important that you learn to enjoy every day that you live and that you have to be glad when you're healthy, among friends or family or when you are able to smile because you get to do something special (like writing something for the Qbee spotlight). Ohh... and don't forget: 'Don't be sad because things end... just be glad that these things happened'
